The HafenCity University Hamburg is the only European university exclusively focused on the fields of civil engineering and city development. The university, which was founded in 2006, is located in the district HafenCity. Today, approx. 2.000 students are enrolled at the HCU.

The student represenatives are defending the interests of students on the university level. They are the voice of the students in talks with the university administration or the public. In addition to political and social issues the representation deals with cultural matters.

The student representation in Hamburg is the "Studierendenparlament" (StuPa) ,the "Allgemeine Studierendenausschuss" (AStA) and the "Fachschaftsräte" (FSR).
