The state-owned Academy of Music "Hans Eisler" Berlin was founded as the German Academy of Music in 1950.The academy is well known for the high quality of their musical education and its numerous music ensembles, which are unified under the name of the academy. Approx. 600 students are enrolled at the university. The Academy of Music has four departments and institutes which are shared with the Berlin University of the Arts.
