In 2004, the University of Stuttgart celebrated their 175th anniversary and maintains their interdisciplinary focus on the fields of natural sciences and engineering. The University of Stuttgart is a member of TU9 German Institutes of Technology e.V. and is thus one of the nine leading technical universities in Germany.

The student represenatives are defending the interests of students on the university level. They are the voice of the students in talks with the university administration or the public. In addition to political and social issues the representation deals with cultural matters.
