The Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1971 as a state-owned institution. Until 2009 it was known as University of Applied Sciences Braunschweig/ Wolfenbüttel. Today it is spread over Salzgitter, Wolfenbüttel, Wolfsburg and Suderburg, in the federal state of Niedersachsen, hosting ca 10,500 students altogether.

The student represenatives are defending the interests of students on the university level. They are the voice of the students in talks with the university administration or the public.
