The state-owned Brandenburg University of Technology was founded in 1991. The BTU is the only University of Technology in Brandenburg. Over 6.000 students are enrolled in four faculties at the BTU. The focus lies on natural sciences and engineering. It is expected that the BTU and the Lausitz University of Applied Sciences will merge on July, 1 2013.
