The University of Lübeck was founded in 1964. Its 3,200 students are distributed in three sections. In a collaboration of their University Medical Centers the cities Kiel and Lübeck have formed the University Medical Center Schleswig Holstein in 2003. Instigated by writer Günter Grass the Literary Colloquium Lübeck is holding poetry readings and literary seminars.
