The Hamburg University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1970. Over 13.500 students are enrolled in four faculties (Life Sciences, Business & Social Sciences, Engineering & Computer Sciences, Design, Media & Information) at the university today. Though the HAW is not a comprehenisve university, it offers their students the chance to complete postdoctural-studies under certain circumstances.
